Octane requirements?
 

Well the octane booster thread got me thinking about octane requirements... last year it wasn't a problem because we took the Checkmate with us when we traveled. It'd burn anything, but now I only have the SBs... both engines are n/a and when we travel to Tnn, we can only get 89 on the water.

Just wondering what everyone thought about fuel requirements for the following engines???

The 24 has a 454, iron heads and I believe 9.5:1- timing at 34*.
The 21 has a 509mpi with alum heads and 10:1.

I've only run 93, so far, but would love to safely get away with 89... figure its better to ask than to find out the hard way:eek:

From what you posted, I would not run less than 92-93 octane in either one.

Kinda what I was thinking I'd hear.
