Water in fuel tanks question
 

I purchased fuel this weekend and got more water than fuel evedently! I have drained fuel and water seperator several times over the weekend and keep getting water. When I drain the filters the boat runs fine but after it sits a couple of hours it picks the water back up and motors run like $hit till I redrain the filters and carbs clear out. I went home and pulled the lines of the tanks and pumped out as much water as the pickups will reach. I just filled up and dont want to have to pump out all the gas,I have been told I can put a few gallons of Alcohol in each tank and it will mix with the water that is left and burn out while running is this true? is there anything else that I can run in the tanks to take out the last bit of the water? Thanks

The water sep will still catch any water left in the tanks. Water sinks to the bottom of the tanks. It is heavier than fuel.

Put some HEET in it....yellow bottle at your local auto parts store.

Wonder if this works? Anyone seen or use this before?

I wouldn't use it for fear of it getting stuck in the tank. Most of the fill hoses do not go straight down so with the curves in the hose could be an issue as well.

Had this isssue once, raised the bow as high as I could and hooked a spare electric fuel pump to the fuel lines. Ran a rubber line off the outlet to a can outside the boat and a switch outside the boat. Drained until I got gas only have not had an issue since.

If you run carbs you may need to physically empty the bowls.

I have used something called water zorb with good success with this trouble. That is once you have most of the water already out. Also, new seperators are a good idea.
