Push rod length
 

I'm putting on a new set of AFR heads that I'll be using a set of crower rollers does anyone know what length push rods I should use? This is in a Gen IV block. Also any suggestion on brand?

Are the rockers same ratio as the stock BBC rocker??? Best way to go is use a push rod rod to get them. Also is this a solid, hydro, or roller cam..

I'm using crane gold 1.7 rockers. This is a hyd roller cam from Bob M.

Because of differences in cam base circle diameter, deck height, head milling, head gasket thickness etc... you have to mock up the intake and exhaust rocker arms with adjustable length push rods, and then make sure that the lifter nose is centered over the center of the valve at 1/2 lobe lift. You then order push rods to length for your specific engine combo.

It is easier than it sounds... give Bob a call, and he will help you out.

I have a set of adjustable comps you can use and I can even help you with it. As mentioned above it is really easy to do and only takes a few minutes. This is a sure way to make certain you get the right length and proper valve train alignment. They stock all lengths in GR at Perfit. Once we measure them up you can have a set within a day.

It also pays to get a good high qualilty set of pushrods. This is easily as well as often overlooked by many. I have learned a lot about unstable valvetrain over the last couple of months.

As said above! Adjustable pushrod and a good size caliper to measure with. Should take 10 minutes or less.... I usually take some magic marker and coat the top of the valve stem, go thru the revolution and look for even marks forward/back centered over the valve tip.

I get my rods from Smith Brothers (.120 wall), they seem easy to work with.

The contack point on the valve stem may not allways be in the center of the valve stem. If you go to www.mid-lift.com that will tell how to do it the correct way.
