Starters

What does anybody reccomend for starters? BBC nothing special, but wondering if any old mec / hardin will do.

Any stock marine Merc or Hardin starter should be fine for a BBC low compression engine. You might consider just get your current starter rebuilt locally and save a few $

The ARCO marine "gear reduction" starters are awesome. Have the size twice the power.

starter is a starter as long as its reliable. A lot of good mom and pop shops that rebuild starters alternators around towns. You give them your core and they give you a rebuilt one for half the cost and usually guarentee it. If its a 454 its a chevy starter doesnt NEED to be a MERC. merc is the same chevy part marked up, just because it says merc.
