Wipple ECM upgrade- 496 Mag HO
 

I was wondering if anyone has done the Wipple 496 ECM upgrade. There are two stages that you can get. One is about a 10 hp increase, the second is about 40hp. It is a re-calibration of increase timing, max rpm and a few other things.

Any experience? If this is decent, it may be the cheapest HP upgrade out there

It is only really a noticeable increase if your on the rev limiter spinning your current prop. It'll allow you to spin the prop faster giving you a increase in speed. I'd guess it's good for a mph or 2

Does it cure the black soot issue? Then it might be worth it.

wasa just thinking the same on the stage two. i am running right at 5050 to 5100 rpm. if i could get 1 or 2 mph out of the stage 2 i would do it. wondering if anyone has done it??
