Changed flappers to external now water reversion?
Engine loads up at idle. I thought it was a fuel or water temp issue. But after allowing engine to idle a bit until rpms drop and loaded, I pulled plugs. Water on them.
I did changed from tips with internal flappers to external rubber flappers. Could this possibly cause my reversion or do I have something else going wrong? Idle set at 800 and never had a problem last year. |
For anyone interested. Flappers did make a huge difference in reversion. After 2 days of troubleshooting and swapping parts I found this out.
The exaust tips with the internal flapper prevent reversion better. I figure because the flapper is only about 3-4 inches from water exit of long tubes. Once water past flapper it's harder for it to get pulled back. My engine is only 600hp and the cam was kept at minimun to prevent this however I still get some reversion under 1000 rpm. before with external flappers it was so bad the cylinder were getting lots of water. inspecting the manifolds showed water puddling in them. Now after a 5-10 minute idle at 800 rpm, only a few drops in manifold nothing on plugs. Not sure why this made such a difference my set-up but worth noting. |
thanks !! Rob
