502 MPI RPM Issue

1996 502 MPI runs great for about 4-5 minutes @ 4500 to 5000 RPM then looses power. Engine will not rev over 4650 RPM. When I shut it off it "resets" itself and will do the same thing again. Any ideas what might cause this condition?
