Don't know much about Sea Foam, but it would change the viscosity of your oil. I would guess it would thin it out.

You are only supposed to use Sea-Foam prior to changing the oil. Add it to your oil run it up to temp then change the oil.

I dunno, I use seafoam sometimes in my 2 stroke fish boat that does not get that much use, mostly for rings sticking. I dot love the idea of adding it to the crankcase oil. Seems to me if there was a magic chemical formulation that had any benefit big oil companies would fight over the ability to add it to their product line. I just use quality oil and change it often enough.

I had a problem with our BMW, and looked into Sea Foam, and it was highly rated, but trying to buy it in Canada, I gave up.

My mechanic suggested automatic tranmission oil (1 litre/4 litre max)

THat cleans amazing, wash you oily hands with it, and you'll see what I mean.

And run for a bit, and do an oil change (cheap crappy oil) run it again for 1/2. and do a proper oil change with your good oil.

Cleans all the crap out of the engine.

CONS (same as Sea Foam) cleans the crap out of your engine...which in an older motor can create problems (not sure what problems, but thats what some people say)

Also, do a You Tube Sea Foam search (some great videos)

Any engine oil would do the same thing, except non-detergent oil.
