Starter noise, but does not turn over.

Okay I am confused. I have had the engines out of my boat multiple times now and never faced this one. I rebuild my engines this winter and finished the re-installation of everything today and went to crank them over and both engines did the same thing. The starters made noise but did not engage or turn over either engine.

Here are things that I have checked.
1. I have checked and switched my grounds to make sure that I have good grounds.

2. Checked the flywheel to make sure that I did not put in on backward.

3.One brand new battery and one old just charged.

What else should I check? I can not believe that both starters have failed at the same time.

Thanks

Did u connect them correct on the ignition feed ?? yellow wire ! and do u have all other wires on there correct ??

Something has to be wrong with the wiring, otherwise both engines would not do the same thing in a case of starter issues !:party-smiley-004:

Possibly your hearing the slave solenoids click... Did you remember to connect the red wire from the starter battery post to the slave solenoid and red/yellow wire from the slave solenoid back down to the starter solenoid post?

Take a screwdriver and bypass the slave solenoid to see if she cranks. :)

Running MT200

I am running MT200 high torque (3HP) starters from DB electrical. I have 3 wires (the red battery lead from batter, red feed wire to engine circuit, and orange wire to the alternator) on the large post and the yellow start wire on the spade lead.

I can hear the solenoid engage and the start turn, but it is not engaging the engine.

Then i realy would guess that the flywheel is the wrong way around and it does not catch the ring gear ????!!!

Something has to really be weird to have both go bad at the same time !:party-smiley-004:

Pull the starter and bench test it, bad or stuck bendix?
