sea doo techs??
I know this isn't a jet ski forumn but I trust the people here more than I do than some 12 year olds on a jet ski site. Heres whats going on. 1997 sea doo XP with a 787 engine. my buddy just bought it. runs perfect on the trailer on a hose, will run all day. when launched into the water it will turn over and never fire. comp is good 130 psi both cylinders. If its started on the trailer on the ramp and backed down into the water it will stall right out when it hits the water. If you hold the throttle open (when running)when backing in it will stay running till you let off the throttle and it will stall right out. No water in the cylinders. I haven't looked at it yet but I am thinking maybey a water line is crossed or plugged? do they have any type of water pressure safty switch that might kill ignition if its bad? Also if you can get it running on the trailer and launch it wide open into the lake it will run perfect till you let off the throttle and stall. any ideas? thanks for any help.

First, I would rebuild the carbs. My Kawa 750 twin has low speed passages in the carbs that are so small the manual says these can clog with old gas/oil that has congealed. They are tiny, like pin holes.

Try the SeaDoo section over on greenhulk.net. Lots of experts there.

First off, I would pull the carbs. There are (2) plates that need to be removed that allow access to (2) very small fuel filters. These plug over time and with a small load on the motor, it will die every time. If you PM me your email address, I can email you the schematic of what the breakdown looks like. BTW, I have a shop here in town but I see you are in CT so it might be a little out of your way lol. Drop me the PM. We'll get you going in no time.
