22' Velocity 600hp 406 Alpha drive with Hydro nosecone 4.5" below pad 26p +1"(27p) Hydro Quad IV. Will throw a heck of a tail but at speed will actually cost a few mph when trimmed that high. This was running only 35-40mph getting going and I trimmed it up some for a pic. It actually goes a bit higher but at low speed loses grip pretty bad.

Is the roost only @ high speed? I'm considering raising my drive from 8.5" up to 5.5" but don't want any roost @ slower speeds. Mostly wakeboard, ski, tube ect between 20-35 & a roost wouldn't be good.

You Should Only Trim Up Until You Stop Gaining Speed Then Thats It. No Point Over Trimming, Just Waisting Horsepower. In All Reality Your Roost Shouldn't Be Over The Back Of Your Boat.

Raising your prop that much will make the surface of your wake much more turbulent for wake boarding and knee boarding. You should be able to trim down enough to avoid a roost, but it will be more turbulent. It also will likely be faster with the right prop.

Only have a tail when I trim up. I can blow the prop out and toss a hell of a tail at lower speeds but its all on purpose and to show off. Normally you won't see it till I'm up and running pretty fast (70mph+) and even then its not over ~2FT. Any higher is a waste.

Thos surface drives DO throw insane roosters, especially if you have a PILE of ponies in front of them, I often see "MY Way" and "Aquamania" blasting downt the river and the rooster coming off both of those things looks like Niagara Falls!

Money455, I have a Fountain 35 with the staggered 525's. If I put my drives in from normal the boat will throw a 5-10' rooster. When you see it (from a Fountain at least) it is probably just showing off. Trimmed out the boat is doing about 60-64 at 3400 and no rooster - bring the drives in to 1-2 and the speed drops at least 5 mph with a big rooster.
I have the XR drives with the 2" sportmaster shorties and 5 blade Maximus props turning inward.

My boat runs fastest with a tad bit of roost with the raised x. Most boats loose speed with bravo's when you have roost. Every boat is different..........
