Update.......

Just got my parts in from a local dealer. Bought an impeller rebuild kit, extra impeller, and fuel filter/water seperator. Everything w/ shipping to me was $107. Thought that was pretty good.

Anyway, looks like the impeller fits into the new housing REALLY tight. I assume that I need to lube this up slightly with something? I also assume that I need to bend the ears on the impeller in the correct direction so that I don't bend them backward while running? Other then that looks like a pretty simple install.

Any comments or recommendations?

Yeah, the impeller is a tight fit. I bent the ears in the correct direction, but then checked what would happen if they were reversed. They flipped back into the right direction on the first turn of the pump shaft, so I think it probably doesn't matter. As for recommendations, put it back together, get out on the water, and never start your motor without water going to the drive.

Advice taken. Trust me! :D

You can use soap on the impeller it will go together easier and will help lube it when you first start the motor.:cool:

Buck, It looks like you should be ready for the lake and hopefully a trouble free boating season!:D

Put the impeller kit in tonight. Took about 45 min. Went to the lake. Fixed!!!

Now you are qualified to give advise as most us do, not from some actually theories or mathematical formulas, but from the school of been there done that. :)

Did you get an extra impellor? It's a good train of thought, 'specially if you boat in the big waters where land can be out of sight. One observation thou, usually when an impellor gets ran dry to where it is shot, the housing is also shot. But will work for the emergencys. It is also a good idea to replace the impellor every year, housing itself will last longer. I installed a new one last spring, and by this winter, all the vanes were already cracked. And with no garden hose time either. Less than a year old. Food for thought.

One more thing. Know what can happen if you pull the main line loose from the pump housing while on the water in order to replace a bad impellor????? Food for thought #2

Yes I bought a spare. The one I took out was a round piece of rubber with no ears. Ugly.

It's all good now though.
