How many hours do you guys allow before changing the oil? I allways pull the stick before and after use but whould like some input. Motor is a 454 MAG Whippled.

About 20 hours, maybe less. 525 EFI, I run it kind of hard.

I used to run 50 hrs between chnages. (Stock SBC, but runs pretty hard (lotta wakeboarding). But one time after 35hrs I got an oil analysis and it said the oil was pretty used up so now I try to do it every 25 or so.

Thanks guys, looks like I need to change oil this week.

I use Amsoil Synthetic and I change mine once a season, that is usually 40-50 Hrs.

On a high performance or supercharged engine, about every 25 hrs. On a stock black engine, maybe 50 hrs depending on how hard its been run.

stopdrop, curious.... how did your Mag respond to being Whippled? Did you make any internal mods? Thx.

Well, I cant give you a before and after cuz I bought the boat complete as is. Its a strong runner, the motor was fresh when the whipple went on and the only thing that has been modified is the heads have been worked with larger Enkinel valves and some stiffer springs then bench flowed. It has a few things I would like to get sorted out, it runs a tad rich and can die and semi flood when loading on the trailer or beaching. It was dynoed at 535HP and 710TQ and runs super cool, around 105 cruising and 120 on long pulls. I want to put a set of headers on to lean it a tad, whipple said it would help alot. My Crown is a sleeper for sure, no one expects a 70+ but I dont want to invest to much as I am going to buy a real boat in a year or two.
