how much of a pressure should there be when inserting a gimbel alignment tool

I am working on a Alpha drive and am aligning the new gimbel bearing with the alignment tool and all i have to do is give it a slight easy bump and it goes into the coupler. Once it is seated it is very easy to spin and remove. Is this the right amount of pressure when inserting the tool? My 1st time doing this.

That is correct. It should go in and out with minimal friction.

Almost no resistance at all!

Ideally you should put grease on the end of the alignment tool and see how the splines squish the grease down, the marks should be equal all the way around.

x2, if you have ever set up differentials it is kind of similar. You have to read the grease if you want it perfect.
