Or can I reuse the Alpha Couplers? Thanks for help |
are the couplers in good shape
|
bravo's use a larger coupler, alpha's use a small one, you should change them or they will become the weak link.
|
Do you need the bravo drive? Are you breaking Alpha's? Because in a straight up swap, you will lose a few mph's going from an Alpha to a Bravo.
|
sorry for late reply
Thanks for replys.
Couplers are in A1 condition, just have bad gimbal housings on Alpha ones, and a good deal on the Bravos. Replaced the stock 260 Mercs with 383 strokers,so think Alphas wont hold,as I read overhere. Roland |
i have a procharged 350 magnum carbed with some work done 6 psi on my alpha drive just easy out of the hole and no wave jumping. 2 years and going strong runs mid 70's on my scarab 22.

Heavy boat + stroker + alpha = BOOM!
Mine lasted four trips |
If you are asking what you will need. Here is the list.
Bravo Coupler Bravo Bell Housing Bravo inner transom plate Bravo Gimble Bravo Trim Rams Bravo Drive I just did the alpha to bravo conversion on my 242 formula and nothing but the trim pump on the alpha will work. Unless you have time to find deals expect to spend at least $2000-2500 for everything. |

My 454/Alpha combo has been on my boat since 1987. No problems (knock on wood).
Someone told me today that the cones on the bravos are easier to get in/out of gear, making docking much more enjoyable. |
thanks all
As mentioned ,I have payed 2.500 usd for the whole conversion, including 4 23"Mirage props, complete bravos,4 lever shifters flywheel housings, inner transom plates ,engine couplers....
Think I made a good deal overhere...I dont live in the US... Finally I have peace of mind,or I hope so:grinser010: Great help from You all,Thanks |
