502 mag engine temp??

I just picked up a 1999 38zx with 502 mags.
both engines run between 170-180 deg. Is this considered normal range?

Thanks Scott

anyone else?

onesickpantera 08-19-2010 02:33 PM

Mine ran about 150 and up to 160 after a hard run.

mine are EFI's and run 170-180 ...I believe they should have 180 thermostats,

onesickpantera 08-19-2010 03:51 PM

I believe the 502 Mag should run 807252T2 which is a 160* thermostat. Mine may have run 160 and 170 after a hard run(it was a few brain cells ago) I know they didn't run 180 ever. Not saying good or bad, just saying.

My 502mpi's run 165-175 on the gauges. I wouldn't worry about 170-180* as long as they are consistent.

My 454 mpi with fwc runs 170-180 also(mostly just under 180)
