valve cover breathing

454; holley 750; with edlebrock intake.

On my valve covers they each have a breather stack that emit fumes and I was considering a change to help with the smell in the boat. what do I do here? With new valve covers do I vent them back into the intake with pcv valve? If so can someone explain the proceedure ie; where does it enter the intake? Does the pcv valve need power? bascially how do I make this change.

thanks much.

You use 2 of these adapters connected to the top of your flame arrester.

so you are saying to vent the valve covers into the flame aresters?

Yes, or u can buy a catch can and mount it somwhere and run the fumes to it , just don't forget to drain it out once a while !!!!!

But dumping in to the flame arestor is comon and actually helps oiling the intake valves !!

Yep. That's the way it's done.

Might want to get a couple of these also for a quick easy installation. Just be sure your new valve covers have a 1" breather hole. You can pull these out to add oil if needed.

the merc HP500 used a pcv valve in the intake, you can do the same in the valve cover..works better than just venting to the flame arrester

+1

My 7.4 vented to the flame arrestor, but still got oil smell / flim in the engine bay. Converted to a PCV and smell / film is gone.

can anyone show me a pcv system using the intake from the valve covers?
thanks
