Bravo gear noise

I am hearing a clicking noise when advancing the throttle in neutral. Much like a manual car transmisson w/o engaing the clutch. Bravo 454 setup.

I recently replaced the exhaust manifolds and risers. When I re-installed the shift bracked it seemed to be a different fit than before, like this manifold was further forward and the cables are under tension.

Never has made this noise before, but I have only owned the boat 3 weeks.

The drive was in the trailer position, does this matter?

Never run the boat in the trailer position. What you were hearing was the U Joints banging.

Griff,

You mean engine running or into gear while drive is in trailer position. I was advancing throttle in neutral not in gear.

On a Bravo drive the input shaft and U joints spin even in neutral. Lower the drive and try it again.

GF?

Like was said, it doesn't matter if its in gear. The input shaft is still spinning when goes inside the drive. Basically the same as a manual transmission on a car with it in nuetral.

Thanks Griff and GF?
