Outboard bracket height ??

I just bought a 24 foot carrera with a stainless marine twin outboard bracket ..How would I figure what legnth shaft motors its set up for..Top edge of bracket to bottom of hull looks like 25".
Owner said it was set up for 20" 2.5's ...

If it is the deep vee Carrera, you will need 25" shaft length. A 20" will cavitate too much. A jack plate would be great. Good luck with this project. GMMM

The boat was set up for 20" motors, just like the original owner stated. You will need low water pick ups if you use motors that don't come with them (like a 200 Xri from merc, where the 2.5 series you just bolt on and go)

Think I figured it out

I got set up instructions from stainless marine and it looks like its set up for 25's.. Im not sure if the guy I bought it off ever had motors on it . He bull$4itted me on a bunch of other facts .. I drove 650 miles to find out it needed four trailer tires. I got raped for 750 canadian on those , but lucky enough to get them on a saturday afternoon.. Seller wont return my calls or answer emails.. I hope he likes being herassed.. Great hull though super heavy , glassed deck seam etc.. Someone did a real nice job on the transom bracket, knee braces etc... I was told this thing is gonna want to run real nose high with the outboards ..UUUUGGGHHH what have I gotten myself into..Anyone know of any nice pairs of outboards for sale cheap ??

Low water

I didnt know the low water pickups were mandatory unless you were jacking the motors ??

Putting 20" shaft motors on that bracket is the same as jacking a 25. Get the low water pickups. DOn't buy 25"shaft motors unless you check with Pantera first. I think they will be too long.

Setback

Well the boats a carrera but I think the bottom is the same or close to a pantera.. What about setback ..The bracket is 26 inches back ,how does this affect motor height ? I wish I could figure this out for sure so I can start shopping for motors..

Sorry about that. I didn't read carefully enough. Advice is still good though. Contact the manufacturer to be sure. 26" is a lot of set back. Makes an even stronger case for the short shaft engines. In general, the farther back the engines are the higher you can mount them. (or the shorter they can be)
