2 batteries?
I have a 20' wellcraft with a single battery , do I need a dual batt setup? I only turn on the radio for an hour max with out the motor running
|
Well that depends. You are probably ok with just one. If you see your boat becoming hard to start or not starting then you will want to think about adding one. I am not sure what your stereo consists of but if it is just a head unit then 1 hour of not running is NO problem at all.

a battery buddy will click to off when the battery voltage drops below 11 volts (I think). You can press the rest button and have enough juice to start the motor.

just the basic head no amps, havent even stayed out late enough to use the ancore light, I just think it would be over kill but I may be wrong if it doesnt start one day
|
I like the batt buddy idea, its rack stored so it doesnt matter if the bilge pump doest get power for a few days if something went wrong

Yup the Battery Buddies work well and they came out with a Marine version last year or the year before. Good choice for the single bat. boat.

Just get a jumper box from Walmart. Throw it under your hatch and you won't have to worry about it. That way you don't have to mess with wiring two batteries, getting another box and switch. Not to mention the battery itself.

Don't put the jumper box under the hatch if you have an electric hatch lift as I do, or it won't do you any good. If you can't open the hatch to get the jumper box out, you can't jump start the boat....

i like the jumper box idea also, maybe Ill do both
