Merc 340 Tune up

Hi guys,

A good friend is allowing us to use his boat over Labor day weekend. As a thank you, I am planning on doing an oil change and general tune up on the boat for him. It's long overdue.

The boat is a 1987 Wellcraft Portofino with 340 Merc inboards. I assume there is nothing inherently special about the inboards vs I/O's? I figure I'll do oil and filter, water pump impellers, cap, rotor, plugs, and fuel filters. Any thing else I should do while I'm in there?

Plug wires depending when they were done last, check exhaust riser gasket area for any outside leakage, then they would need to be replaced and probably not a bad idea if they were never done. Check belts/tension, clean flame arestor's, change gear oil in fuel pump/sea water pump tank if it has that set up.
