oil gauge temp
 
HI i would like io instal an engine oil temp gauge on my 496 HO.i already have engine temp,water pressure,volt...on my smart craft but no oil temp.can i upgrade my smart craft or instal a conventional gauge.where is the best place to instal the sender.my gauge are gafrig with red besel,272 baja 2001.thank

You will have to drill and tap 1/8" hole in the top of your remote oil filter housing and screw the sender in there. Put it as far on the top of the housing center as possible so it will not interfere with the filter. The housing is sorta dome shape so there is room there and you will get an accurate reading. It pretty simple just take the housing off, take the housing and the sender to the machine shop and for about $10.00 they will do it for you. Some senders are different size. Mine was 1/8" fine threads and worked perfect. Clean it good before re-install.
