"perma cool" oil thermostat
I just got my PERMA COOL oil stat from summit. I am trying to get some idea's how to plumb all this stuff. What i have now is a stock mercruiser remote oil filter setup. I need to add my oil cooler and my oil thermostat. If any one has any advice or help for me.. please email me.. I don't check on here much but my email gets checked
I have one line from the block outlet to the filter inlet. then one line from filter outlet to block inlet. Thats it, so i need to fit this cooler and stat into this setup.. I would like to know how you other user's of the perma cool oil stat plumbed yours... [email protected] Thanks Travis |

Traviss,
The oil cooler is good idea for those cold northern waters. Be aware that the Permacool has about a 10 percent bypass even when up to full temp. In other words when the oil is above 195 or so 10 percent will still bypass the cooler. This would only be a problem if your cooler is undersize. Are you going to use a temp gauge? Tim T. Here is a little history on this topic; http://www.offshoreonly.com/forum/sh...ght=perma+cool See page two for oil thermostat for 12 bucks under my post. http://www.offshoreonly.com/forum/sh...0&pagenumber=2 See ya the Cumberland July 4th weekend. I am interested in seeign your PowerPlay, lots of my buddies ran those when I was in Mi. |
yes I know about the 10 % bypass with the unit.. This oil cooler should be perfect, it is a cooler of a 454 mag motor. I am installing a oil temp gauge as we speak.. Thanks for the threads and info Tim.
We must have got our dates mixed up . cause I am going to be at cumberland.. july 29 through august 5.. sorry man if i told you different... . |
I will be there then too...

traviss, if you have any other questions send me an email. I put two in over the winter and they work great. I made a bracket for mine so it attaches to the lower side of the block where the old oil cooler went.
