B&M blowers w/tstats
 

What type of t-stat is everyone using that are using them on these B&M 250 blowers? I have the brass style that has the "cup" on the motor side of the stat vs the SS stats that have the "exposed" spring on the motor side. Just noticed tonight that the cup styles rubs a little on the inside of the intake, possibly causing it to stick.

Ok, just found out that the stats with the "cup" is actually called a high flow t-stat, while the one with the exposed spring is just a standard t-stat. Looks like the high flow stat is the best for a SC motor. Having both of them in hand, I can see that the high flow ones will really flow alot more water thru them than the standard one.

I have ask numorous engine builds about running t-stas in blower motors and they all tell me im crazy, rex maraine boost-power on down, say there is to much of a chance for the thing to stick. Rex informed me you can control the temp with a pop off valve.

I would think if you need a "pop off valve" to control heat on a motor with no stat, you have major high water pressure problems. A restrictor so small that a relief valve is needed, would resrtict the water flow thru the motor too much that it would overheat. Just my understanding of this non-understandable plumbing thinga ma bob.

Not a water pressuer problem at all. the way rex marine explained it to me ,is you can use a small pop off valve to controll the amount of water going to your engine, but you have to watch your guage, call ray , or jay at rex, with a blower motor you only need about 120 degs the oil will be hot due to the blower.
