Run without thermostat?
 

Just bought a 1988 CC Stinger with twin 468's (rebuilt 2007) and Bravo1's. about 500hp each.Two questions:

1. Obviously the previous owner dont use any thermostat. Any ideas why? (or can it be located somewhere Else than top, front?)

2. Thinking of installing closed cooling. Since the Bravo's dont has any pump in the lower unit, which pump will be circulating the seawater then? I believe that the belt-driven pump at engine will be used for the closed lopp. Anyone?
