cast iron manifolds on alum heads???

Has anyone mounted cast iron exhaust manifolds on BBC aluminum heads without any problems . I not sure if the manifords are to heavy causing damage to the heads. Any info would be helpful. Jeff

Not a specific answer, but cast iron exhaust manifolds are standard to any modern car engine there is. So are aluminium heads.

A friend of mine has aluminium heads on his csb with standard cast iron manifolds. No worries so far.

The question is why do it? Assumuing you have nice flowing aluminum heads and bolting on some junk cast iron manifolds is really defeating the purpose of good heads.

+1. Just spend a little extra cash on a nice flowing aluminum intake and be done with it.

Darrell.

He's talking exhaust.
I don't think weight of them would be of any issue. Just be sure to use as long of bolts as possible, meaning don't use bolts only hanging by a few threads.

What he said...

I used the stock Merc exhaust for a season with aluminum heads with no problems. As mentioned above, ya wanna use the right fasteners.

You have upgraded heads, but what about the cam???? If the cam is more than stock, then you need better exhaust or you will probably get reversion.

+2 on the why would you want to do that? There's always sets of aftermarket manifolds oout there especially now at the end of the season. Power flows, Gils, Stainless Marine etc for cheap.
