If you are moving up from a smaller boat with less power, and used to just mashing the throttle, it will take some getting used to. Don't think yours is a stepped hull, but if it is having too much tabs on takeoff can raise the stern and make them blow out easier, so try it with just a little tabs and it may help. On mine if my tabs are down more than 4 it makes planing much tougher. Good luck, enjoy the new boat! You will find this website a wealth of information, welcome aboard!

Much appreciated. Yes I just stepped up to the 31 sonic with twin 495 ho from a 25 baja with a single 454 so big difference. Ill try playing with the tabs. Im used to having to bury the drives and tabs on the baja with the single then ease them up as I plain off. Just concerned me when I would throtlle up that the rpm would jump like that so fast and I wasnt moving. Thanks for the advice. DON

all good advice but I would go down to the Sonic Owners Forum and post this question.....the 31' owners are great with all their knowlege on props and how the boat reacts to different styles of props.......being a Sonic owner this doesn't sound normal to me.......my 35' gets up on plane real fast with no blowout or spinning.......all I do is put the tabs and drives down and she is up and away........good luck with the new ride, once you get it dialed in you will love it........but I am sure you already do..........and post some pics please.........
