I agree! Especially now.

I saw the damage yesterday, the first time since the crash...

The gimble is torn off. On the gimble ring, the lower part that rubs again the upper lower unit rubs against, is cracked right off.

On the upper lower unit, the piece that rubs against the gimble ring is cracked right off as well.

Its amazing how violent it was to cause that much damage.

Now going forward, XR, HP or IMCO?? (what is the difference?) What type of full Hydraulic steering? Stainless gimble ring?

If I fix it, I want to make it much safer, but also don't want to go over kill.

Currently the boat will do 81 MPH on GPS, the hull is V bottom with pad. Would assume with a fresh motor, would get in the high 80's. So using a maximum speed of 90 MPH.

What should I do?

Now I can see how lucky I was.

Found this video:

(I was not jumping waves, just going straight, on smooth water)

Your lucky the boat didn't come back and run you over or you got knocked out and drowned...Bet you weren't wearing a lifejacket either...80mph without a kill switch is asking for trouble...

I'd spend the money on a IMCO setup but XR HD gimbal assembly with dual ram hydraulic steering is a good alternative.

PLEASE DON'T take the advice of faking hitting something I don't need my insurance to go up either.

At what age/hours does fatigue failure of a standard Bravo gimbal start to show up?

IMO, when you put power through standard Bravo Gimbals, they can break at anytime. Even when new. You really need to play it safe and get dual ram hydraulic steering, Mercs HP gimbal or better yet, Imcos gimbal.
