Formula 242 bolster question
 

I bought a set of McLeod bolsters out of a '99 312 formula. I just set them in my Formula 242 and they fit perfectly except for one thing. My feet are a mile from my foot rests! Does anyone make some type of foot restrest that I can mount above or over the ones I have now. Also, if I add a tilt wheel will the wheel be in the same place or closer to the seat?

your lucky to find a nice set of bolsters I am jelous, you should be able to find a foot rest in some of the aftermarket sites. I would think the wheel would stick out farther.

Thats not the way to do it! I did the same thing to my 242 this spring. I'm sure that your seats are sitting crooked right now. I cut 2" off the legs and had the bracket lip raised 2". The 2" on the bracket was too much and I had to shim it up 1" so the seat was level. I should have only gone 1" or just cut the legs 1". I'm 5'11" and the seats as I have them work perfect. Stock is just way to high, you'll never be able to grab the wheel unless your all bent over!

I'd really like to see some pics of your finished 242 with a close-up of your woofers. I read where you installed your 10 inchers under the bolsters. I'm updating my audio this winter and have space problems as well in my 27 fever. I don't want to use my rear seat for woofers cause storage space is precious on a fever. I was just wondering if you have problems dropping you seats with the speakers being beneathe them. It sounds like a good use of space as long as my bolster bottoms will drop. :drink::drink::drink:

There is not problem with dropping the bolsters! I'll post some pics, I'll also take some more with the bolsters down and post thems as well... The 242 is the same, no storage, under the seat works perfect. No downside to putting them there at all!

If you go the the link I have above you can see both how the bolters look cut down and the sub enclosures. The last pic shows me driving the boat, you'll see the bolsters fit great cut down.

That's nothing short of genius...I didn't realize you attached them upside-down to the bottom of your cushion. Do you bounce very high when you get them thumping? I bet the girls enjoy sitting in them too! :lolhit: (just kidding) Have you given any thought about the effects of the added weight to the bolster hindges over time? I wonder if maybe the hindges should be beefed-up? And one more question...how did you affix them to the bottom of the seat. (I can't see any exposed bolts or scews).:eek: I'm thinking thats the way I'll go with my woofers.:drink:

The Formula bolsters really beefy, its tubular framed, hinges are equally strong. McLeaod builds a great seat. I just screwed the enclosures into the subframe of the seat. I've not had any problems at all and I had several great days lauching waves in Lake Michigan this past summer. The subs are Boston Acoustics G5's they weigh around 25 lbs each.
