Mid cabin ?

Was wondering what people think of Mid cabin boats you don't see very many any input

Absolutely love my mid cabin boat. The most versatile boat I have ever owned.

Me too...

fantastic family/go fast/ski/tube/wakeboard boat - you do sacrifice storage though.

pokey27 10-26-2010 03:39 PM

Y it dont have much for storage but I sure like the ride and the kids like to be up front:lolhit:

I am considering a mid cabin for my next boat, once you throw anchor from a bow rider seat vs. walking down a fresh waxed bow you might want one.

32 advantage looks like a hot ticket. I might even design a "hard top convertible" for the bow for weekend trips when I need the storage.

pokey27 10-26-2010 03:54 PM

Boy that would be handy Ive only got to take mine out four times short trips hour or two a time but i like it alot sofar

4bus 10-26-2010 06:02 PM

Should have been more clear that it would just be a removable hard top :)

I have always wondered why I have never seen it offered, seems like it would be simple enough to design. And if you get drunk enough it could double as a sleeping birth

pokey27 10-26-2010 06:05 PM

:lolhit:Well if you get drunk enough any where works right:drink:

My last boat was a cuddy, The boat I have now is a mid-cabin. What a difference in usable space on my boat . I still hace a cabin and it has sliding doors front and back. If I have 6 people on board everyone has room.I would say this is a good style for lakes not necessarily a ocean style boat.

spyderconv1999 10-27-2010 12:22 PM

i really like the mid cabins, tons of room for everyone.

sunsation96 10-27-2010 12:33 PM

I have a Sunsation MCOB 32' and love it awesome boat!

I've seen them before. Stingray boats had it as an option many years ago.

I checked-out your pics in the photo section...that's one fine looking fever. I have no idea if Fountain actually made a 27 fever mid-cabin, but if they didn't...whoever did the mod does high quality work...I think it looks great!:drink::drink::drink:

Looks great P-27, definitely have their place, but not for everybody, especially good if you have kids, my kids are grown and they want to sit in the back with the beer. :ernaehrung004:

No front door on your 27? how do you wash it? Just curious.

I have a 28 Donzi ZX Open. Fantastic boat. It has the dual cabin doors so I don't worry about ocean running, etc. If the going gets rough we button up. The main complaint I have is getting to the bow isn't exactly easy. Just the nature of the beast... you have to crawl and bend a bit. Still better than walking up front on a bow though.

The open bow makes anchoring easier. Trailering easier (it's easy to pop up from the front of the trailer into the front seating area). Docking is easier. When running slow the boat either holds more people or we are just more spread out... a plus either way. When running fast, no one rides up front.

An Ex Donzi employee said they do run a few MPH slower than their closed cabin counterparts because of aerodynamic issues. The Donzi specs put the Open models a bit lighter in weight so that is logical. I'd love to have a hard top for the front though... I have an idea how to mock one up that I may do one day.

I want to get a DC air conditioner for the cabin. should cool off in no time and give the kids a place to nap, and us a place to beat the heat for a few minutes.

Storage is not all that bad, there is storage all under the front seats... accessible from the cabin on both sides and the forward 3 seats lift up.

I have a 2007 32SS Mid Cabin Sunsation. Its awesome! Plenty of storage in the front and in the cabin. Full Head and sink. Filler cushions available for the front to make a bed and not to mention twin 496ho's! I am however selling it, so if you're interested, let me know.

No doors on it that would be nice if it did might have to check into fabing one It is a chore to crawl through to the bow the kids have problem and the wife and can we are both smaller so its not to bad lol

p27 that looks awesome. i have a powerboat mag from a couple years ago and eliminator made a 28 that was an open bow. the guy who bought it got them to give him the piece they cut out, and he fabricated a hard top for it for poker runs, etc. it looked flawless, you couldnt even really tell it was a hardtop on their. if i was looking for a bigger bowrider that would be the way to go forsure!

pokey27 10-28-2010 10:55 AM

I think our fam will have lots of fun with this boat we have already had lots of comps on it love the ride A+ Fountain :drink:

Fountain also made a huge one, 47 I think. big cabin with a small open area all the way up front. that one is neat.

The door helps you get to the front, at least on mine, because there is a flip up part on the top so you can stand up inside the cabin with your head poking through the flipped up part. Hard to explain, but it does help.

I have a 30' Advantage mid cabin. I wouldnt have anything else. Mid cabin is a place for the ladies to go when it rains or when they want to get out of the sun and it has alot of storage. Bow for the kids and alot easier to throw anchor. IMO its the best of both worlds. We never stay overnight on the boat. So thats what works best for me.
