1992 330 hp 454 w/supercharger
how long will a stock 330hp 454 last with a 100 hp supercharger??
|
If you keep the tune up safe you will have no issues and it will run a long time @ 4 or 5 lbs. The first sign of detonation and the cast pistons will explode!
|
Like Haxbyspeed said, no more than 4-5 #'s of boost, make sure you get your timing right, and be sure its getting plenty of fuel 92-93 oct. Also if this engine has very many hours i would really consider new head gaskets.

Good luck!! Cast pistons, rods and crank, small oil cooler, restrictive oiling system, small heads, restrictive exhaust. Many guys have done it, some have had good luck others have blown them up. I would definatlly get a wideband O2 gage and monitor it closely.

Dont do it dude. For what you'll spend on the blower, you can use the money towards new heads, cam, intake and carb. Gain 100+HP and keep it under 5k rpm, no blower.
or, do the above, then add the blower. And add 200+HP! |
im not doing but a buddy of mine is considering it. what kind of speed gains can you expect from 100 hp increase?
|
Although it's not the best candidate for supercharging there is no cheaper way to add 100+hp then with a little blower.
