I am running a 750 holley on my 383 and it works great. One problem I have is that the while the engine is off the secondary throttle shaft leaks fuel out both sides. just little drips.. We have checked for a stuck float, but its good and the level in the bowl is a little low.. so why do I have fuel leakin out the shaft on the secondaries? when the engine is running they do not leak..


shhh this is not a marine carb either.....

Sounds like a metering block gasket problem, maybe a warped surface on the body of the carb. Lay a flat edge on the surface, especially accross the bolt holes. If not true, you can file it flat. Also if it has a power valve, check it for leaks.

If the carb has vacuum secondaries there are teflon seals on the throttle shaft that need to be replaced.

i'm sure i don't need to say this but make sure you ventilate before starting and run your blower while idiling.
marine carbs are grooved and "stabbed" on the throttle shafts to prevent puddling fuel on the throttle blades from seeping out the ends.
