2001 mercruiser 454 mpi overfueling

newly installed motor everything seems to check out perfect from the timing to puting the computer on it to check for any fault codes all reports great! other than the overfueling issue it will only turn up 3500 @wot and it should be between 4000-4200. SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP?

It should actually run 4200-4600rpms at WOT and the closer to 4600rpms, the better.

What makes you think it is a fuel delivery problem, and specifically why too much fuel????

because there is a very overpowering exhaust fuel smell/odor also fuel film on water!

Pull your injectors and have them flow tested (if you've not modified anything else..)

But I don't think over-fuel alone would drop it down to 3500. Sumthin' ain't right.
