what do you guys think about running a Pete Jackson Gear drive vs a timming chain in a BBC and why dont people use Gear drive in marine motors or do they i have never seen one

why would you ??? they cost H/P and some are noisy as hell..worthless....we don't even use them in over 1000 H/P race engines...

I tried one in a small block chevy for my camaro. I ran it about 20 minutes, one trip up the street and decided the noise was off the hook. Of course, mine was one of the single gear ones with straight cut gears. I guess if I had been running open headers it wouldn't have been too bad, but with turbo mufs, it was all you heard. I couldn't get it apart fast enough to go back to a chain.

Since it is a metal on metal situation, it will carry all of the harmonics from the bottom end into the valvetrain. The valvetrain in a BB has enough issues without adding to it. You couldn't give me one.
