Crane Hydraulic Roller #169651

Refreshing from mechanical solid to hydraulic roller.
Combination is 572ci, 12-71, intercooler, Dart, big stellings, dominators, etc.
I would appreciate comments regarding performance from anyone running this cam in a similar combination.
Good choice...or..?
Thank you.

Seems like a good choice. What did Bob say?

TX3x2gun 12-23-2010 07:07 PM

Bob's comments were all positive.
He thought a bit more lift would be the only change he would recommend, but agreed that for my use, (heavy boat, mostly cruising at 4200-4800, and no constant "hammer down" for all-out mph) the combination would work great.
Maximum torque at 5600-5800 sealed the deal.
No stud girdle required, no reversion.
Install at 114.

Do you mean max HP? Peak torqe is lower than HP.

What are the specs on this cam?

mike tkach 12-25-2010 09:15 AM

i have that cam in 4 engines,and love it.great midrange,and top end,and a sweet idle.

mike tkach 12-25-2010 09:18 AM

if you installed intake centerline at 114,you NEED to change it.put it in at 108.the lobe split is 114 ,i have the cam card, intake centerline is at 108.

Do you think that cam would be too big in a 540 n/a?
