Pro Comp heads & Dana exhaust ?
Has anyone used Pro Comp aluminum heads on a 454 mag EFI ? Looking for weight savings and a little performance gain. Also any opinions on Dana exhaust and will they fit 29 fever with twins looks like it would be a tight fit. Picked up 1 set used looking for 1 more. Any help would be apprecciated.

Pro Comp aluminum heads Junk dont waste your money and end up with a pile of junk parts due to the valve seats falling out.

Pro junk
Had a pair of pro comp heads for BBC. Very thin castings. Had 2 rocker arm studs pull out

pro comp heads=junk,dont use,espically in marine application:party-smiley-004:

a couple of them make a cool end table...just keep them off a engine..more chinese garbage !!!

I agree with everyone on the pro-comp junk. I'm running the new afr 265 oval ports and I'm very happy with them.. They're a little more but you'll be A LOT happier!

X2 on all above! thinwall cheap aluminum, stud bosses in wrong
location, causing major geometry issues, seats fall out in cold water cooling app.......could go on... buy an american made head, and reap the benifits- buy that ching-chow junk, and you will be buying EVERYTHING AGAIN!!!!!!:flag::drink: |
I agree with everyone, you will pay more in the long run!!! I had a set on a 496 stroker motor in a baja 24 outlaw.
Notice I said "had". Just like all said, dropped a valve seat and pulled an intake valve through a piston not to mention destroying the head casting in the process. All this happened coming into a no wake zone returning to the ramp after a day of just hanging out. Can't imagine if all that failed while running hard!!! Ended up with a total rebuild sporting some nice AFR's!!! |
The stories and reality of these Chinese made Pro Comp" heads are a perfect example of the two old sayings "
"IF ITS SO CHEAP AND TO GOOD TO BE TRUE IT IS! "THE ONLY Don't buy and build your marine performance engine twice, by good proven parts and just build it once right!! Best Regards, Ray @ Raylar |
I agree to stay away from them. In reference to the chinese crap made over seas all being junk, be careful, lots of you guys are running chinaman crankshafts and rods and lots of other stuff made over there in chop suey land :party-smiley-004:
