Continuous Solenoid
 

I'm looking for a continuous duty solenoid in the style of a 89-853654A1. I can locate many suppliers to replace the solenoid but none confirm it is continuous duty. Anyone know where I can source these?

Not sure what kinda of solenoid that pt # is, but I bought a HD cont. duty 'Stinger' from an stereo shop. They use them for powering amps and such.

I once used one of the start solenoids from Merc for a continous duty cycle. It only takes a few mins for them to burn up. That answered my question on that one!!
Power it up and see how long it lasts.. :)

I might have posted the wrong part number... It is a trim pump solenoid but I want it to be 100% duty cycle if I can find one. It is for an electric fuel pump and I wanted all the solenoids to be the same style. I have had bad luck in the past with blade style relays and want to have true nut terminals.

I did this also. I think I got 15 mins out of it. I did not think it would work but I have to learn things the hard way. It is my understanding that the coils are different in a continuous duty solenoid vs an intermediate and the outside casing is identical. So, I took a chance.

Looking in the Wells catalog, I see several listed that are rated "continuous". One labled as SS942 is 12v and 85A Continuous. SS945, SS955, SS956, etc.
All of those are four terminal. I believe two for the coil and the other for the switched load. Do a search for those numbers under Wells.. I think they have changed the name. They used to be available at Auto Zone..
