May not be the same but a number of years ago I tested a flat-bottom 42' with triples turning in. The boat liked turning out better. When turning in we had to run one of the tabs down to keep the boat level and it didn't carry the bow as well. Also, docking wasn't as easy.

Did you try it in ? Mine are out now but would like to know how it would chenge the way the boat carries the bow.

My straight bottom 1990 38 with ssm IV drives was originally a TRS boat, and was re-rigged at the factory in the mid-late 90's with SSM IV drives. Drives were setup turning in. I have not tried turning out yet. With twin 600HP engines, 77-80mph depending on the props. Docking does suck. 3 blades plenty of bow lift, but porpoised alot. 4 blades made the boat run nice and flat, i assume the extra blade gave me that little bit of transom lift it wanted.

I been thinking of trying turning them outwards. If i lost 1-2mph, that would be worth not looking like a newbie around the docks. But over 3mph, i dont think i'd change it.

Backing up with them turning in is weird. The normal theory of one drive in reverse, and other in forward, doesnt work well. I found you really need to use the steering wheel alot.
