Perko flush
1 Attachment(s)
Anyone using one of these or something similar?
Does it flow enough for a HP500 EFI when in the water or does it restrict some of the flow? What hose diameter on 500 EFI? Thanks |
Use a 3/4" hose for flushing your engine. Just make sure you have sufficient water pressure at your hose bib at least 35psi. When you flush your engine keep your rpms at about 1000 to 1200 rpm
|
Also make sure you don't have too much water pressure. I have almost 100 psi at the dock, and if I don't leave the hull pickups open a little to vent the pressure you can actually cause a raw water pump impeller vane to "reverese", which will trash it pretty quick once you start the motor.

Work Fine.
I have one on my HP500. Pressures good and temp is perfect. I'm running a crossover and restrictor plate. |
Can't tell from the photo if it is like the ones that were on my Donzi. They were made so the flush pressure would push a plunger and close off the raw water feed. I had a couple times when they stuck "closed" (spring is supposed to open them once the flush hose is removed). I was able to catch it fairly quickly as I always check for water flow as soon as the motors start. A quick look at the transom saved a problem.

Warning!!
Make sure that you plumb this unit before the raw water impeller in your system. If not you will wind up roasting the impeller unless you remove the belt from the belt driven models....I'm not sure how this would work for folks with outdrive water pumps....
