HP-500 what RPM max.

I see the specifiocations on these motors indicate 5,200rpm max.,but where does the power really drop off 5,400????

What can you turn them and still be in power curve?
Mercury seems to always have them slightly under.

I'm running a 28P at 5,400rpm ,but if i'm out of my rpm range maybe i'm better with a 30P at maybe 5,100 rpm??????

Thanks, Guys

The power really does drop off at 5200 right where the rev limiter grabs it .

I bought my 95 with 500's and there was no rev limiter. Did up motors and now they spin 5600+

Mine has a 5600 chip and i think mercury uses 5400,so someone must of changed it.

Wish i knew the power curve, seems good at 5400,but tuff to know if its laying down?

Thanks

Thanks, that great info,right where i thought?6-7 HP won't make a difference,unless you want that 1 more MPH,which seems like i always do.LOL
