Think I need a different prop?

Currently running a 21 pitch prop on my warlock euro 24. I just did a lot of work to the motor and now I'm seeing 6,000 rpm on my tach at w.o.t! I would like to bring the rpm's down a bit but am not sure what prop to use. At 62 mph, with a 21 pitch 3 blade, at 6,000 rpm my buddy calculated 22% prop slip if that helps out. What pitch do you guys think I should go to and would a 4 blade be a better choice. not to sure where to go with this so I'm looking for advise. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

i would find a friend that has a 24or26p Bravo 1 4 blade prop and try that..this should bring you between 4800-5200 rpm..

What engine are you running?

a 24p would be a good choice IMO.

Call Brett at BBlades. He is the BEST at any prop questions.

It started out as a stock 454/330hp. I put a small crane hyd. cam in it, went with 396 closed chamber heads to bump up the compression to 9 to 1, installed stainless marine exhaust, msd ignition, a edelbrock performer rpm intake, holley 750dp, roller rockers, an hp6 filter head with -12 hoses, tossed the mechanical fuel pump for an electric pump, upgraded the fuel filter/water separator, etc....

Do you have a # for Brett and where's he out of? Thanks!

25P Mirage Plus would probably work well also and keep your rpm's up around 52-5400.

prop update:

We took the boat out again on Sunday. I hooked a snap-on timing light up to it (been a bit on the fence on how accurate the vdo tach in the boat is) and my buddy brought his garmin gps out. The boat ran 72mph @5,950rpm. I bought a mirage plus, 25 pitch, 3 blade that's been labbed by D.a.h pro-pellers yesterday. hoping to bring the rpm's down a bit and maybe even see a couple more mph out of it.

Sounds like that tach was pretty accurate after all. I was wondering how those closed chamber heads were going to work. Sounds like their working pretty good. Don't see a lot of those around any more. Keep us posted on the prop change.

Will do, I was pretty surprised that it hit 72mph. I didn't expect it to go that fast. My buddy that was with me is really into boats and has been around them since he was a little kid. He currently owns a Daytona eliminator that does 120+ w/o the bottle. Where I was able to get a best of 68mph...his first time out in my boat after getting a feel for it..he went 72mph.

I'm very happy with how the motor is running and the 396 heads do seem to be working really well. Just have to cross my fingers it stays together through the summer now! Got a bit of a lead foot...or hand in this case! :evilb:
