just for fun: cheapest way to make 800hp????

2. 93 Octane
3. No meth or NOS
4. 34 degrees max timing

N/A or forced induction? Probable cheaper to go with a 454 with a whipple than to build a 598 or 632ci N/A motor.

I don't know if it's the cheapest or not, but I have big CI N/A engines in my boat that are making that. Dart tall decks, Callies cranks, Oliver billet rods, J&E pistons, AFR cnc heads,Morel hydraulic rollers, they idle great and after 140 hours have been trouble-free....Knocking on my wooden desk as I type this!!! :D A leakdown was just done a few weeks ago and all is very good. I have them propped to run WOT at 5800-6000. They made 803HP @ 5900

Find someone that has one already built to those specs. Waiting for his dream boat to come along. Then he loses his job, needs to make his mortgage payment before the bank repos his house and kicks him, his wife and 4 children out on the street. Then give him a call. :)

Cheap and 800 hp, don't know if that works

JMS322 04-07-2011 05:02 PM

Cheap, Reliable, Fast(Big HP)..... you can ONLY pick two and you WON'T have the third.

302Sport 04-07-2011 06:26 PM

i know what ur sayin jms322, but im just saying in general....i saying cheapest as in production parts, no crazy custom parts etc.....and also blowers or na??? what cubic inch, what blowers (if any), etc....

The first thing we have to know is what do YOU consider cheap ? And if you can do some of the work yourself that will certainly help keep the cost down. If you have to pay to get everything done there is no cheap way to make 800 HP. Just my .02

302Sport 04-07-2011 09:03 PM

im not building motors, just want to know what the general thought is. but yeah i can do everything except the machine/port work.....

SS930 04-08-2011 08:02 AM

The cheapest way would be to do it with a forged low compression 454/496/502. Turbos would be the way to go, but doing that with carbs (for cost savings) might be tough. Large (used) SC would have to do...

Regardless, you dont need 800hp engines in a 32 Skater Adam, you'll hurt yourself! :D

EDIT: Along those lines, you'll have a hell of a time getting insurance for such a rocketship being 24 with no previous cat experience. Not joking about this one... ;)

302Sport 04-08-2011 08:21 AM

haha thanks scot. not really looking to build any motors just interested to see what people think, and around 750-800hp seems to be the area where people start argueing for NA or blowers.........

Isn't this where you normally say. "Cheap, powerfull, reliable - pick two":party-smiley-004:

Nah, it's all good:lolhit:

hp 500, either carb or EFI, 8 to 10 pounds of boost with a good intercooler and good fuel.
