wHERE IS THE SPEED'O" HOSE INSIDE THE TRANSOM?

my speedometer on my formula with twin power does not funtion properly, it reads about half speed. the plastic clip on the outdrive has it's tab broken so I think the water pressure just keeps pushing it out partially. I may just get a new clip, but I thought this weekend I could just switch to the other drive's hose.

after about impailing myself, I could look down and just see two small hoses coming through the transom within the outdrive. one whitish, one black,

what's the white hose?

I think the lower black hose is the speedo pressure pickup line. but on the second drive, I can't quite find the end of it's black hose. how is it terminated on a drive when the speedo is not utilized?

any help would be appreciated.
gonna spash for 2002 in 2 DAYS!!
