Wet Sounds equalizer and IR repeater????
 

Anyone using the 4 channel equalizer by Wet Sounds in place of a head unit? How does the quality of sound compare to a headunit, both being 5V RCA outs?



Whats a quality brand for an IR repeater (remote extender) that works without issues?

If you are talking about running sound from your i-phone or mp3 player through the input instead of getting your source music from the head unit then this is the only way to go. Many head units have an input but no eq that could come close to the wet sound eq. Most head units just have eq styles like rock/party/jazz/heavy. Boats have very different acoustics from boat to boat so an eq is great. There are other eq's out there but I have never seen one in that size that offers dual eq's for 2 amps. Thats what really sets it apart from others.

Yes, 99% of our tunes are on iphones, touches, etc, with an occasional need for just a FM tuner or even CD. This Wet Sounds thing seems like the berrys and then use the HU as the aux input fro those rare occasions for some flexibilty.

Talked with my local dealer and the tech guy from WS and am sold on it, but wanted to hear from users, not sellers.
My plan is to use a 4 channel amp for my arch and floor speakers, both sets JL 7.7's, and a mono amp for the sub. Not separate amps for the arch and floor speakers.

A 4 channel amp will work.. You will still be able to adjust the eq for each set of speakers. There will be a front and rear input or input 1 and 2. Just make sure you have 2 sets of patch cords and hook up to all inputs on the amp and have the amp switch set to 4 channels. Also on your sub, get the lowest ohm load speaker that the amp is capable of. Some amps will go to 1ohm . in that case you would need 2, 2 ohm subs to get this. Most amps are stable to 2 ohms but not 1ohm.
