best oil for 525sc?

ive been reading the different threads on oils but not finding much on my question. Whats the best oil for a 525sc? I do a fair amount of idling due to NO WAKE zones if that makes any difference

I would use 20w50 vr1 has zinc and no issues. Good stuff.

Why would the oil change based on the motor? Amsoil or Royal Purple are great. Use a good oil and you will be good to go. I would go with Amsoil with a Amsoil racing filter more sq in. of filter media.

my other boat and my vehicles are stock engines..wasnt sure if it would be any different with the supercharger since some oils say that they are better suited for supercharged or turbo motors

For as little oil as they hold, I would change it more often, than what they recommend. These blowers have a tendency to fill the oil reservoirs with gas, when the seals start to go. Changing it frequently, assures you to catch any fuel in there before any damage to the blowers. I quart of gear lube will cover both blowers.

I used a little pump that hooks to a cordless drill. Sucks it out, and put fresh in. There is a front and rear crankcase on these blowers.

Me, I'd change it every 10-15 hours. Some may say overkill, but for under 10 bucks, and 15 minutes of time, worth it. Those little blowers work hard.

Thanks for the advice. Its my first blower motor and would rather be safe than sorry. What weight gear lube do I use?

I changed mine every 25-30hrs. The blower had 500hrs on it and had never been apart.

V-Twin

I picked up off of here a couple of years ago that Mobil 1 V-Twin oil had the best overall performance numbers. Being as this oils is designed to operate in the harshest conditions (air cooled HD) it makes sense to me. Ive run several changes of this and am pleased. My take on the blower fluid is that it IS important to keep an eye on it. I think that some are a little over paranoid and change to often. Doesn't hurt to change often but if your like me, I already have a maintenance list for my toys a mile long. My recommendation is to check the fluid level often as having fluid and not gas is the key. I leave mine in for 50 hours. BTW I LOVE these motors. I just GPS my 27 fever at 78 this weekend with one 525SC with 500 hours pushing it. Little more prop work and I will get it to 80.
