They are essentially belt driven turbos and will make more power then any other sc out there. As far as timing SINGLETGT, controlling detonation by running excessively retarded timing is fine at the track but if you hold it wide open for 10 minutes like that in a boat you'll likely burn the exhaust valves right out of it.. The last set of blow thru 555's I did made 1300 on 92 octane with 31 deg total, procharger M4. I sold Dennis r a carb off a 1200hp deal that we converted to EFI and he made over 1400hp with it on his package. I think EFI has a ton of advantages over blow thru carbs but it sure is cheap and easy to make stupid power..

Procharger Nation! lol. :evilb:

I respect and love the projects you do, keep up the great work. I am pleased with the results I achieved with my project , the ability to build easy hp with these centrifugals is almost unbelieveable, 20 years ago just imagine a average wrench like me at home putting together a motor that makes 1000 plus hp on 92 octane and would last over 100 hours, people would have laughed themselves into a frenzy, Smitty

What are you guys running for engine configs and tune ups?
boost, timing, afr, egts, etc.. I am curious what is required to make a marine combination live with power. It goes without saying(but I will) that rpm and detonation kill parts.
I have a turbo mustang street car, so I am familiar with the automotive aspect of a tune.. BUT its a drag car, and it's all over in 9seconds.

I'm running a twin turbo efi setup on a 572 BBC and have been since 1997. Currently making 24 lbs of boost at less than 30 degrees of timing and about 1575 egt at full throtle full boost.

Shows that egt's can be sky high and everything still hold together, I think forced induction egt's go higher than N/A due to afterburning in the exhaust or something, I used to have them on my boat and they were past 1500 under boost also, I didn't even bother when I went to stainless marines from headers, Smitty

Well, we all know power aint cheap! If it was everyone would be doing it. I just dont understand how the motors are not detonating with so much timing. Can anyone explain that?

I agree that turbo's are not very marine friendly in terms of kits. I just love the fact its basically free hp.. Take your belt driven turbo and take off the belt and you got 100 free hp, maybe more!

I also agree heat is a problem. I planned on using a turbo blanket and waterjacketing the rest. Im planning on using internally gated turbos so that's one less thing I have to fuss with. I think Ill only have to waterjacket the manifold adapter and the downpipe.. I am uncertain if dry piping it would be ok in my boat, I dont want to cut any un needed holes.

check300 do you have a boost controller? what turbo's do you have?

I can't post the pic of Check300's boost controller as I am too cheap to pay the memebership fees anymore here BUT it is the coolest thing, big control knob with different settings to select, maybe he will post some pics, Smitty

Thanks a lot Smitty. RMBuilder is a big part of it. I think you were one of the first people to prove how functional and powerful centrifugals can be. The fact that you are making that much HP with an M3 and a Mag intake shows you are a little more then the average wrench.. :drink:

Am I missing something? He's making killer power but people have been making killer power with centrifugals for a long time. Maybe not in the marine world?
Best part of turbo's is if you want more boost, ya just turn a knob. Well, I like electronics so I just hit a button.

What outdrive/props are you guys with killers running?????? That is the most expensive part of going fast on a budget IMO. Its been proven over and over you can make power with "junk" parts but putting it to the ground, well water in this case, is another story....

Turbo, marine, and budget cannot be used in the same paragraph..
