imco lower

Anyone ever run and imco lower with out the cavitation plate supplied. -2"
Don't need it for shower and the boat planed easy with standard bravo and i have had a -2" imco on it before with cavitaion plate and planned great.
Question is,do i need it,does it make that much difference, anyone tried this

Thanks

I have not installed them on my 35 Fountain yet due to the way my showers are (new merc style mount to rams). I have 2' shortie and my boat planed no prob w stock drive, now I need the 280's buried to get on plane, I bet with the plates the boat would plane way better. I'm sure the boat bottom and weight as well as twin vs. Single has allot to do with the characteristics of the boat.

I had a new upper and did not want to drill the holes for the plate in new drive. Was a real pain to get on plane so i drilled the holes and put plate on and it is much better

anyone ever notice if you gain or lose speed with the plate?

thirdchildhood 05-08-2011 06:54 AM

Yeah, you need it and, no, there is no speed loss. It's out of the water at speed.
