Back flow valve for innercooler
I currently have my innercoolers fed from my sea strainers, one for each motor. Stainer's each have two water feeds, one from the outdrive, the other from a transom pick-up. The stainer sits on the chine shelf which is probably just above or right at the water line. My question is at idle will the engine be starved for water because it will suck the water from the innercooler until emptied? My water pump is a two stage pump that both stages feed the motor. Do they make a back flow valve that i can put on the innercooler feed line? Line is 1 1/4 hose. Innercooler is a Whipple MOAC.

The MOAC doesn't need water flowing thru it when ideling. As long as water is flowing out the exhaust you should be fine.

why not just use the drive pick up to feed the cooler and the hull pick up to feed the motor?

Dug this thread from the dead. I am looking at using a checkball type valve for the same purpose. I and thinking I will T off the drive intake line and install a checkball right after on the way to the innercooler. My thought is that it will be force feed at speed and will not starve the motor either. Not sure that it matters but the pickup slot is huge in the SC lower. Transom pickup is a problems because it is a pod type cat and the sponsons are notched by the transom. Anybody know of anyone doing this?
