Yeah I read the manuals and found the resistance reading @ temps chart. Not the brightest light when it comes to electrical terms other than volts. ;) The ice cube/hot water test I can relate to on the reading of the DVM and apply that to the sensor testing. Have an offer to borrow a scan tool, so if all else, we can read alot more chit and be more confused. :angry-smiley-038:

understood... but remember there are other things going... for instance... that sensor is a two wire sensor. one is the signal and the other is ground... what you want to know before you know anything else, is if that sensor is good all by itself... ice cube/hotwater deal w/ a meter. IF the sensor is good, then you probe the corresponding wires at the ecu plug and make sure that is isn't just a bad plug at the harness. the scan tool is good but ultimately it will only tell you the overall values... if i were standing in your shoes, i would pull the seson, check it, clean the threads, put it back ( assuming good) and go from there. it's a 5 minute job and you have an answer that is a hard data point. i have a scanner for sale incidentally now that my boat is sold. have the factory workshop manuals for the 502's all years as well.

This for a buddies boat, otherwise I'd be all over the scanner My cruiser is old fashion and easy to work on.....carb.
