best cheap stereo
what the best cheap stereo that won't break say under 125.00 for the player. Boss ,pyle, sony, ..etc.? any used ones out there (no salt)?
|
I have a used Sony stereo with CD and wireless remote I recently pulled out of my boat with 4 matching Sony 6.5" speakers. I'd sell it all for $125 shipped. PM, if interested, and I'll get you some details and pics.

West marine has there house brand thats not bad. Plus radios in boats have to be replaced often due to dampness. Not near as bad if its not salt air and water.

Amazing what less than $200 buys you nowadays. |
Sony, JVC, Kenwood would be the first to come to mind. You should find anyone of these with remote for under $100.00.
BTW. JVC mobile is now being built by Kenwood. Anything produced in the last couple of years have the same basic internals. |
I had forgotten about the merger with JVC. The JVC specs still seem strong, but I've noticed Kenwood coming up with some decent models lately.

pyle marine. Got one with CD player and MPS hook ups on sale for 69 bucks at west marine. I dont see the point in wasting money on a 300-400 deck in a boat, chances are your not using it that much, and as long as it has amp hook ups and has a good 4 channels for smaller speakers its good to go.

Plum Crazy, whats your email? I'll take the stereo.

Your best bet is to skip the marine units altogether. You pay a premium for the marine label and a normal auto head unit will probably last just as long if you give it reasonable protection. I've had a nice Alpine car stereo in my boat for years with no problem and I paid a lot less for that than a many cheap ass marine units. More power and more features per dollar.
It's a different story with speakers however. |

I agree with NH, but if you plan on adding a remote then most units are only offer when paired with a marine radio. We are a Alpine dealer and only their Marine decks can be used with their remotes.

Not all. Mine is a CDA9833 (not a marine unit) and and it did come with a remote even though I rarely use it. Things must be different today though.

Panasonic is hard to beat. They have a ton of features and are cheap. I've run one over 7 yr in my boat.
